Giving back to our community is part of the fabric of Carbine & Associates building history, and, this week, Vice President of Operations Daryl Walny was honored by Franklin Tomorrow for leading the C&A team in the build of an Operation FINALLY HOME in Kings’ Chapel community for decorated war veteran, retired U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant Luke Van Dorston and family.

Earning Franklin Tomorrow’s “Individual Corporate Volunteer Award,” Walny, along with C&A’s Estimator Kim Dykes, marshaled volunteers, building donations and subcontractors for work on the seven month build of the French Country style home with Tudor accents. Van Dorston flew 140 combat missions and was involved in combat engagements which earned him two Bronze Stars, one with valor for heroism. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2011, and suffers from PTSD.

“It was such a honor volunteering to help Operation FINALLY HOME provide a home for such an amazing man, just one example of the incredible military men and woman sacrificing for our great country. Not only is Luke a self-sacrificing patriot, I’m proud to call he and Abbey friends,” Walny said.
