James Carbine is a second-generation builder whose passion for craftsmanship, community, and long term vision was established long before Carbine and Associates became one of Middle Tennessee’s most respected custom home building companies. Raised in Florence, Alabama, James learned the value of hard work early, working alongside his family in plumbing, roofing, and carpentry. These hands-on experiences built the foundation for his deep understanding of construction and his unwavering commitment to doing things the right way.

After earning his Bachelor of Business Administration from Auburn University, James built a successful career as a certified public accountant. While he excelled in the financial world, his calling to return to the building industry and create meaningful spaces for families ultimately led him back to his roots. That path brought him into partnership with his late brother, Denzel Carbine, where together they helped lay the foundation for what Carbine and Associates is today. Denzel’s legacy continues to be a meaningful part of the company’s story and the standard of excellence it upholds.

As co-founder and president, James leads Carbine and Associates with clarity, discipline, and vision. He is not only deeply experienced in construction, but also highly skilled in land development and investment strategy. James has a natural ability to identify where growth is happening and where it is going next, giving his clients and company a distinct advantage when it comes to selecting land, planning communities, and making smart long-term investments.

James is, at his core, a relationship driven leader. The strength of Carbine and Associates is built on the trust, loyalty, and long-standing relationships he has cultivated over decades with clients, trade partners, and industry leaders.
